In this series, experts educate you about Joint Commission-related requirements and help you assess your organization’s compliance. This program also focuses on The Joint Commission's accreditation process, as well as details on survey activities, sample tracers to address hospital priority focus areas and clinical/service groups, and sample survey agendas. Participants in this series will also gain a better understanding of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), CoPs, the CMS survey process, the statement of deficiencies, Plan of Corrections, types of termination tracks, potential outcomes, and resurveys (or other types of follow-up by a CMS surveyor).
These 60-minute programs features experts illustrating mock surveys, risk assessments, environment of care, medication safety, infection control and other Joint Commission and CMS-related concepts, methods and techniques. You will also hear from several hospitals faced with patient safety challenges, and how they worked to help improve care.
After completing this activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Identify The Joint Commission standards for hospitals
2. Explain the different CMS-related components, including CoPs, the CMS survey process, the statement of deficiencies and Plan of Corrections
3. Identify common compliance issues related to The Joint Commission and CMS
