Product Description

Product Description

The CAMLAB PDF manual provides you with all standards, elements of performance (EPs), National Patient Safety Goals®, and Accreditation Participation Requirements (APRs) for labs, effective January 1, 2023. All the information you need is here, in one easy-to-use, authoritative, and accessible PDF.

Please note: This PDF manual is a digital version of the hard-copy Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Laboratory and Point-of-Care Testing with standards effective January 1, 2023. As such, it is not updated.

Understanding Which Standards Apply. The Joint Commission surveys many types of organizations under the laboratory standards, including hospital laboratories, reference and stand-alone laboratories, point-of-care testing sites, in vitro fertilization (IVF) laboratories, physician office laboratories, ambulatory care laboratories, anatomic pathology laboratories, and other laboratory organizations. Eligibility requirements will differ based on the laboratory specialties provided and survey option you select; more information is available on The Joint Commission’s website. Standards for all these laboratory specialties appear in the 2023 CAMLAB. The “Standards Applicability Grid” chapter helps an organization determine which standards and EPs in the manual apply to its service(s). These applicability grids allow you to identify the laboratory specialties, as you identified them in your E-App, and find standards that apply to your organization. In contrast, the E-dition® on an accredited organization’s Joint Commission Connect® extranet site provides a customized manual based on the laboratory specialties checked on your E-App. (That is, the E-dition®only displays your organization's specific complement of standards and EPs).
