Event Description

We have two options for attending the Environment of Care and Exploring the Life Safety Chapter for Ambulatory Care. You can either attend in-person at The Joint Commission headquarters in Oakbrook Terrace, IL or via live webcast. 

This seminar addresses the unique needs of ambulatory care professionals like you who are responsible for Joint Commission accreditation standards and survey compliance related to the Environment of Care (EC), the Life Safety (LS) Chapter, and the Life Safety Code®. You will learn from experienced Joint Commission engineers and have your accreditation and survey compliance questions answered.  The event is for locations that provide services to four or more patients at the same time, including either anesthesia or outpatient services that render patients incapable of saving themselves in an emergency. It also addresses ambulatory surgery centers seeking accreditation for Medicare certification, regardless of the number of patients served simultaneously.  You will learn tips directly from Joint Commission experts for managing compliance with the EC elements within your ambulatory organization. You will review the core and ambulatory health care occupancy specific requirements of the Life Safety Chapter and analyze the requirements for managing compliance with the Life Safety Code®. You will also gain a better understanding about Project REFRESH and the SAFER Matrix and how the 2012 Life Safety Code® affects the Ambulatory EC and LS requirements.

1. Compare and contrast your organization’s current survey process for accreditation compliance to The Joint Commission’s Environment of Care (EC) and Life Safety (LS) chapters as presented in this program
2. Implement the Joint Commission requirements for managing compliance with the EC elements within your organization
3. Review the core and ambulatory healthcare occupancy specific requirements of the Life Safety Chapter
4. Analyze the Joint Commission requirements for managing compliance with the Life Safety Code
5. Review facility scenarios for life safety standards applicability

Health & Safety

The Joint Commission and Joint Commission Resources are committed to the health and safety of our attendees and will be following these guidelines:

All attendees will be required to show proof of being fully vaccinated as per CDC guidelines and to complete a Joint Commission Covid Health Attestation Form at check-in in order to be admitted to the program.  Socially distanced seating will be provided and will be expected of attendees at all times for the duration of the program.  The State of Illinois and The Joint Commission are following the updated CDC guidance that no longer recommends universal mask wearing indoors. If you would like to wear a mask when in the building, the CDC offers information on mask types for various situations. Continue to check our website for any updates to these requirements.

The Joint Commission meeting space is currently using reduced occupancy limitations to allow more space between attendees. Hand sanitizer will be provided in multiple locations throughout the meeting space.  Meals will be provided & will be served following federal and local regulations.

These guidelines are subject to change, based on current federal and local regulations. By registering you agree to comply with all CDC, state, local and Joint Commission guidelines for Covid safety protocols. Anyone choosing to not abide by these guidelines will not be permitted to participate in the program.

CAUTION
There is a risk of exposure to Covid-19 in any public space where potentially infected people are in attendance. By attending this event, you voluntarily assume all risks related to any exposure to Covid-19 and agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Joint Commission and Joint Commission Resources. Those who have symptoms or have had close contact with a person diagnosed with Covid-19 should stay home and quarantine, self-monitor for symptoms, and follow CDC guidelines if symptoms develop.

Continuing Education

Before registering for a program, check for updates from your state, county or city on a regular basis to make sure it will be acceptable for your license / certification renewal.  In order to receive continuing education credit, participants must attend live events or review recorded programs in their entirety and complete the post-training evaluation.
