A highly engaging three-part training course is designed to align with your project progress at your organization, so that students are freshly applying their knowledge and enriching that knowledge with applicable skill.

Kickoff: Monday, August 29 - (11am to noon CT)
Session 1: Monday, September 12 - Friday, November 16, 2022  (10:00 am - 3:30 pm CT)
Session 2: Monday, November 14 - Wednesday, 16, 2022 (10:00 am - 3:30 pm CT) 
Session 3: Tuesday, January 24, 2023- Thursday, January 26, 2023 (10:00 am - 3:30 pm CT) 

Students will attend all sessions.

Program Highlights:

1. Kickoff introduction session to prepare participants to project selection and access to materials. 
2. Mentoring calls throughout the project lifecycle (six months) by process improvement experts to help trainees navigate barriers to project success 
3. Participants will have the ability to select their own projects with ongoing mentoring by process improvement experts

Expert Faculty

As a team, our instructors and mentors bring innovative work with leading health care systems and hospitals to you. They provide training and mentoring on high reliability concepts and the pursuit of zero harm, including Robust Process Improvement^® (RPI) tools and methods. Our teams’ expertise comes from guiding health care providers exclusively in applying RPI principles to their own patient safety and quality processes, such as improving hand hygiene, improving emergency department turnaround times, or reducing medication errors, as well as operational processes, such as improving bed turnover times, reducing billing errors, or reducing staff turnover.

A team of certified process improvement experts with experience applying Lean, Six Sigma and change management skills specifically within health care settings will be guiding and mentoring the participants in this program.

Faculty Members:

Klaus Nether, D.H.Sc., MMI, MT (ASCP) SV

Dr. Nether is the Executive Director, High Reliability Product Delivery at Joint Commission Resources. He ensures our products adhere to high reliability principles and Robust Process Improvement concepts. Dr. Nether is also responsible for solution development activities, both domestic and international. Prior to this role, Dr. Nether was a Master Black Belt in the Department of Robust Process Improvement at The Joint Commission. In this role, he supported the Joint Commission’s activities associated with establishing and sustaining a RPI culture which includes the use of Six Sigma, Lean, and formal change management.

Prima Romulus, MBA

Prima Romulus is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Project Lead and Master Change Leader at Joint Commission Resources. She currently leads collaborative projects with healthcare organizations in their efforts to achieve sustainable improvements in patient safety and quality initiatives. She also helps develop process improvement programs in hospital systems nationwide to help them identify talent that will embed a continuous improvement mindset throughout the organization and target the key issues that are aligned to their strategic goals. This has given her the opportunity to have an impact in tailoring solutions to some of health care’s most critical safety and quality problems. Prima’s role as Executive Change Management and Process Improvement Coach and Trainer is integral to transforming healthcare into a high-reliability industry.  

Ziad Karam, MPH

Ziad Karam is a Lean Six Sigma and Change Management Black Belt for High Reliability Initiatives. He is responsible for leading and coordinating activities supporting the adoption of high reliability practices with hospitals and state hospital associations. He also leads both internal and external improvement projects and facilitates engagements to help organizations prioritize their efforts on their high reliability journey. He is involved in the work that JCR conducts in collaboration with hospitals related to High Reliability initiatives and spread of Robust Process Improvement methodology. He assisted with the management of all aspects of the Oro® 2.0 High Reliability Organizational Assessment and Resources application including content development, data extraction and analysis.

FAQs

Why three sessions spaced out? Do I have to attend each?

What technology do you use? I’m not sure my computer will work.

The class is delivered through Zoom, and all class materials and supplemental work will be available to download via special access to SharePoint. Prior to class, each participant will receive their personalized invitation to SharePoint for access. 

During class, we do require all participants to have computer audio and camera on. 

What about payment? Can you bill me?

This is a prepay event. We accept credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. However, due to credit card compliance and security reasons, we are unable to accept any credit card details via email. Contact Customer Service if you need help finalizing your registration with payment.

Will I be certified once I complete the class?

Candidates who complete their project and make a final presentation to the RPI council will be certified Green Belts!

Prerequisites

Prior to the start of the program the instructors will be sending a second email with welcome logistics, and as part of that will ask trainees to provide a two-sentence summary of their project. Further, as the class is fully online, students will be asked to participate in a technical check, one week before the session, and any needed technical support will be provided.

Payment Options

All Joint Commission Resources products require pre-payment. For your convenience, if you do not have a credit card available, we offer a sales quote/proforma invoice option to assist with initiating your payment. Payments submitted by check take up to 14 days to process. If you are registering for a program less than 14 days away, your registration may not be received in time and your seat may not be reserved. You will not have access to electronic program materials until your payment has been received. We strongly recommend credit card payments for any events less than 14 days away.
